We’re proud residents of Burke, VA — and big fans of Moo Thru ice cream! Our connection to Moo Thru began as customers, where every visit felt like a sweet taste of Virginia’s farm-fresh goodness. With a passion for our community and a desire to create a welcoming space for friends and families to gather over a delicious treat, we’re excited to share this unique “cow to cone” experience — delivering authentic rural quality and freshness to Burke while celebrating our special place between Virginia’s rolling farmland and the heart of our nation’s capital.

While we love “driving thru” in Remington, we didn’t have the space to add one here in Burke. But what we may lack in drive-thru convenience, we make up for in community. Our shop is designed with plenty of indoor seating — perfect for gathering with family and friends and enjoying every scoop together. Moo Thru was founded by fourth-generation dairy farmer Ken Smith. The Smith family has owned and operated a dairy farm in Fauquier County for decades. With the help of his family, Ken opened Moo Thru in June 2010, and it has been growing ever since. The family farm is located just 33 miles from Burke, where their champion Holstein cows are carefully raised and fed a healthy diet. The ice cream is handcrafted and slow-churned in Remington, Virginia. Each ingredient is hand-selected, fresh, and locally sourced whenever possible. You can truly taste the combination of fresh milk, gourmet ingredients, and hand-crafted attention to detail in every premium batch.

Moo Thru recently earned three awards at the North American Ice Cream Association’s annual Ice Cream Clinic, receiving a blue ribbon for vanilla, a red ribbon for strawberry, and a white ribbon for chocolate. In addition to these award-winning traditional varieties, the production team often creates new and tantalizing selections that rotate with the seasons.
